Leaf, Berry Four Feet

These Mt Washington Salt Shakers were named Leaf, Berry Four Feet. Following the tradition set up by Peterson, this would give the name of the shaker as: Berry Four Feet Leaf. Unfortunately it was named after the decoration for the one the author had. It is shown in the 1894 Pairpoint Catalog; the year of the merger with the Mt Washington Glass Company. Therefore, it undoubtedly was an earlier Mt Washington product and should be credited to Mt Washington.

The shakers are shown in an original 1894 Pairpoint Catalog in a box as a pair. They are also shown in Ken Wilson’s new comprehensive book in a box as a set of eight.

The pictures below show the basic decoration differs slightly between the shakers of a pair. Some of these started their lives together and stayed together. Others may have started their lives together and were reunited a century later. Close inspection of the decors show the basic design is the same but with small differences.
