Special Comments:

A Catalog image of this shaker can be found in Parker Salts: Page from Elsa Grimmer’s 1900-1901 Wave Crest Catalog Reprint, and the research article on the homepage. Patented July 4, 1899. The metal band on the bottom was a flange which screwed onto the body and held on the removable glass bottom. Design avoid corrosion problems since no metal to salt contact. Another advantage noted in the catalog was that the level of salt could be determined by looking through the glass top.
