Description: 

A squat Barrel shaped shaker with a ring foot with intaglio rayed base and a ringed neck. Often found with a Alden lid with the patent date Dec. 25 1877.

Decoration: Opal Shaker have various hand painted designs
Shape: Barrel footed ray ring neck
Colors Known: Opalware, Clear colors are numerous and the different shades add to the volume of colors.
Size: 1 5/8″ Tall or 41.27mm

A catalog from the Alden Salt Caster Company from 1891-92 has been located that shows these wares. Alden did not manufacture the glass, but had their own moulds and had various glass companies manufacture them. A catalog image of this shaker can be found at eapgs.org. These will be found with different numbers of rays in the foot. An original boxed set of these shakers can be seen at Jeffery Evans completed auctions.
