2025 Convention
The 2025 convention was held May 21st – 23rd at the DoubleTree Hotel in Harrisonburg, VA in conjunction with the Jeffrey S. Evans auction of shakers from longtime AGSSSC members, the late Dick and Lesley Harris. This was the first AGSSSC solo convention without other glass clubs since 2019. The attendance was the best we have had since 2019, likely due to the opportunity to attend the auction. Members were welcomed in the lobby by the 2025 convention poster created by June Sprock, the first convention poster we have had since our 2019 convention at Corning. Prior to the auction, Jeffrey and Beverly Evans graciously invited club members to their home for pizza on Wednesday night. Jeffrey gave a tour of their historic home and property, the Christian Sites homestead in Broadway, VA, and provided some history of the home and the Shenandoah Valley where they are located. The auction was held on Thursday May 22nd at 9 am at the Jeffrey S. Evans Auction facility which is less than 10 miles from Harrisonburg. There were many beautiful and rare shakers at the auction and convention member sales on Friday at the hotel, and most of us acquired some very nice shakers. In new business, we discussed ideas for the 2026 convention and ways to attract new members including allowing members to sell shakers on our Facebook page on Sundays (i.e., Sunday Shaker $ales). Tom Foozer moved from Vice President to President while current president, Rob Korn, moved onto the Board of Directors. Ron Miller agreed to serve as Vice President, Rick Koenig will continue as Treasurer and Joyce Sprock as Secretary. Sonia Smith volunteered to serve as Membership chair. June Sprock will continue as editor of The Pioneer. It was great to see so many club members and the enthusiasm and the interest shown by the attendees in discussing club business, future conventions and recruitment strategies.
